Matsui Sushi in Alexandria

Used to enjoy coming here, but seems as if I can no longer rely on integrity of service since ownership changed. I am breastfeeding my son and he has a severe soy allergy, we explicitly informed them and requested for them to remove any soy from my dish, but I was still served soy sauced mushrooms (which I did not eat), and my son had a horrible reaction from something in the dish with soy that I was unaware of. Patrons with allergies be weary.

This is one of my new favorite places to eat. The Ramen and Sushi are so good, it's hard to decide. So you got to go both! You also can't beat the lunch box prices for what you get. I used to go to Tsunami in Fairfax when I was out there often, and this is the only place I've found that compares. It's going on the weekly eats schedule for me!

Am affordable neighborhood spot for sushi and ramen at uncharacteristically low prices. Seating is limited, and while the menu might be short on frills it's quite extensive. Not upscale, but rather a comfortable joint for locals.

I've always walked by this spot previously to get to my pho spot but I noticed a new sign and a Ramen neon light and I had to finally make the trip inside. Awesome interior and delicious Ramen! Authentic and reminds me the fresh Ramen I would get in Japan. I'll be back to try the sushi!

This spot is worth a try. They serve big portions for fair prices. Always clean and with awesome vibes. Will come visit again.

Some of the most authentic Japanese ramen in the area! I lived in Japan for years, and this is the only place that I’ve found that has the genuine article. I was happy to discover that they have not only a variety of sushi, but also beno platters. They are family friendly and have a small drink menu. If you want Japanese ramen or sushi you must try this place first.

Wonderful atmosphere and food. I had a lunch special, and was full off of about $12. I highly recommend this location.

Always a good spot near Ft Belvoir for meals. The lunch menu is reasonably priced with delicious dishes.

Go to place for sushi lunch in the area. Very fresh sushi and have some great lunch specials. Love the pork belly buns for an appetizer. The tuna lover roll is great as well. Strongly suggest coming here

Love this spot!! The staff are always welcoming when you walk in the door. The shoyu ramen is my favorite in this area. Super tasty! The bulgogi buns are also a must try! Sushi is always on point. Definitely recommend.

Wanted something quick to eat and the workers did an awesome job in food prep and getting me my order. Very friendly and fast.

I visited for the first time today. I had the Executive sushi plate and my husband had a spicy ramen bowl it was very good. I will definitely be back. Attentive service. I only wish they had a fried gyoza appetizer instead of only steamed.

Authentic Japanese Cuisine for a price that you can’t beat in this area ! It was quite enjoyable having Ramen beautifully plated and even an after dinner refreshment of candied walnuts and melon! The staff feel and are proficient in their craft, I feel like I am at the heart of old japan! Very professional and the feel of the place takes me back the kinder days ! Everyone time I go visit, there isn’t many people and I worry that it may not be open for a long time! This place feel family run and for a mom and pop there is a lot of love in the food and care for the craft of making and presenting food! It is a must visit ! I see reviews that dislike the taste of new management that’s to be expected new chefs new flavors specially on a small place. I like the experience and the feel! There is always room to improve!

What a pleasant surprise! I've been looking for a ramen place that isn't 30mins away. The shumai we bought was so fresh! And my ramen was on point! Hope they can broaden their ramen choices in due time🤗 My personal favorite sushis was from the spicy sushi menu🧐 Also got the teriyaki beef, but ... Omg ... It was actually steak and perfectly done💁 Atmosphere was pleasant, and well lit🙂

Always a pleasure to stop by here. Owner is always super nice and welcoming. He is always going above and beyond by any means necessary. Usually always packed around lunch and dinner but the service itself is always worth the wait. The sushi is great (the boat...my god). Highly recommend everyone to come here!!!

We've been on a mission to find the best Ramen in NOVA... hands down my favorite spicy miso!!!!! For the first time in my life I finished the entire bowl. Service was fast, restaurant clean, prices reasonable! Pork buns were great too!

The sushi was great but the ramen was not so great! The customer service was outstanding and they even provide a free desert. I would definitely recommend eating here if you are visiting the Alexandria area.

I adore this spot! They have first-rate food, they have a rich menu, The cook in that restaurant is a real pro, I enjoy very much eating all their food. The food is always tasty, the attitude towards the visitors is efficient. I often eat in this place and I not even once was disappointed. I recommend this place.

I miss Charlie! Please note for any long-term customers that he had sold the business, and the new management is not nearly as focused on fish quality or presentation. When Charlie was the owner everything was impeccable, it was a must stop place for me and any out-of-town guests. It was the first restaurant I took both of my kids to within a week of their birth. I was super bummed to discover the friendly atmosphere and consistent top-notch sushi it's no longer. You can now get a decent plate of sushi, but it's not of the same caliber with the new owners. The new owners are also diversifying the menu at the expense of the sushi.

We started going here over two years ago after moving to the area. It is now under different ownership/management, but their sushi and ramen are excellent! We go here almost every week and love how friendly and thankful all of the employees are. We are thankful that they provide excellent sushi, service and a friendly smile.
